"No amount of security is worth the suffering of a mediocre life chained to a routine that has killed your dreams." - Maya Mendoza

Anyone who knows me is used to hearing the phrase, “Let’s go to ________.” While the word that fills in that blank is always different, I can guarantee that it could be anything from an exotic African country to a crumbling medieval church in the Scottish Highlands. When my wanderlust kicks in, I don’t discriminate about where I want to go. Instead, I immediately Google “cheap international flights,” and wonder what would happen if I bought a flight to Hong Kong. Unfortunately, my travel bug eventually gets crushed by reality, the perpetually low balance in my bank account, and my lack of free time. This usually means that I have to satiate my adventurous cravings by looking at travel blogs, scrolling through my Pinterest feed, or reading novels that are set in foreign cities.

Despite the fact that I can’t always hop onto an international flight at RDU, I have been fortunate enough to travel to many different places. The first time that I spent an extended amount of time in a different country was in high school when I lived and studied in Paris, France. This experience only piqued my passion for traveling, and I have studied abroad twice in London since I have been in college. Every trip that I have taken has been both a blessing and a curse. Few things make me more euphoric than trying a new type of food or finally standing three feet away from my favorite painting. However, that euphoria quickly fades when I disembark the homeward bound plane and file into the Passport Control line at the airport. Even though there is always a feeling of sadness when I return to my “mundane” life at home, nothing can prevent me from daydreaming about what new countries I want to see and which cities I can revisit like an old friend.

Although I am not the foremost expert on all things regarding travel and I don’t know every fact about every city, I hope to use this blog as a platform to share what I do know and what I want to learn. I want to talk to anyone and everyone about what I find special or inspirational about the places I have been to and the places that I want to go.

xx
